Welcome! This area of the site is dedicated to the best Battle rifle ever designed, the FN fal "The right hand of the free world" and more specifically the L1A1.
It will be populated with rare and hard to obtain accessories for the L1 from complete furniture sets, to unrestricted parts, scopes and rifle tools. I also intend to build this area into an L1 information resource in time. First in, complete original wood sets, both British and Lithgow, fully restored in my workshop, colour matched and refinished to factory specs with raw Linseed oil. The non invasive refinishing process, involves carefully removing the 50 years of grime to reveal the wood's natural beauty and preserves all original factory and service markings. Small dings are left because I have no wish to disturb the sevice history of these pieces . With all the necessary screws, bolts and butt plates, sling swivels etc, metalwork repainted and ready to fit. Some slight final adjustment might be required when fitting the woodwork to your rifle, as wood is a natural product and final fit can actually vary from rifle to rifle! On the site soon, impossible to find L1A1 "tabbed" top covers, new manufacture SUIT springs and ejector blocks, very limited supply! New info: It has been brought to my attention that the L1A1's rebuild by Anglo Custom Rifles require some adjustment to the rear of the de-activated gas block, in order for the wood handguards to fit correctly. Many thanks for the update Charlie! JUST ARRIVED IN THE WORKSHOP Deactivated L1A1 gas plugs, Hythe sight, bayonets, 1959 and 1977 revised manuals, cleaning kits and more! Coming to the Centre soon: Fal grenade sight ( because its all about accessories) ! Fal low profile rear sight (German G1 type) Fal wooden carry handle Fal trigger guard assembly |

WOOD AND PLASTIC FURNITURE
British L1A1 Woodwork setThis is a complete original Walnut/beech wood set, suitable for the Enfield or BSA produced L1A1.
This set is the same as above bar the following points- It includes a very hard to find Long Length butt, of second pattern manufacture. The first pattern was made of Walnut, with and without reinforcing neck inlays, early without, later with, and the second pattern was manufactured out of beech (all with inlay reinforcement) This example was manufactured at Enfield in 1966. The handguards are maker unmarked, but in very good serviceable condition, with a very nice colour. The right hand section has a very small armories repair in front of the screw hole, this has been expertly done and is barely noticeable. Complete with all the necessary screws, butt plate and sling swivel, a stunning set of British Long length woodwork, with no cracks or splits. This set is suitable for a deactivated or Live rifle. Here is this set on John W's lovely live L1A1...as god himself intended the rifle to look!

Set of Lithgow L1A1 Woodwork with Laminate Handguards and rare NZ pattern carry HandleThis is a set of Coachwood woodwork , suitable for the Australian Lithgow manufactured L1A1.
You will notice all parts bar the pistol grip are of a different pattern to the British L1A1 woodwork listed above and make an interesting comparison. Lithgow chose Coachwood instead of Beech and walnut for their L1 manufacture, they had very successfully used this timber on their Lee Enfield SMLE production and saw no reason to change. Coachwood is a softer timber though, so Lithgow altered the dimensions of the stock slightly to counter this, you can see in comparison to the british pattern butt above, its fuller in the neck, this helped to avoid the cracking that British L1 woodwork was prone to. The Laminate handguards replaced the solid wood two slot handguards on the Lithgow production line in 1967 and were retrofitted to earlier rifles as they required servicing. These Laminate guards are of a much improved (if not as pretty in my opinion) design, the British also copied these and introduced them for a brief time as a retrofit, before the advent of plastic furniture. They weren't as easily damaged as the wood handguards they replaced and had a more comfortable "fuller in the hand feel". The carry handle is of a quite rare New Zealand pattern, one of the furniture items locally designed/manufactured and fitted to their Lithgow purchase L1A1's to save money. The left half of the laminate handguard has more wear than the right, but it is in good functional and usable condition, the Butt is Normal length. This set is in very good order, complete with all the necessary screws, butt plate and sling swivel, with no cracks or splits. This set is suitable for a deactivated or Live rifle. Price SOLD |
